UV protection for our hands & arms

hands

I admit that I’ve been kind of lazy in taking care of my hands and arms.  Apart from applying hand cream, I’ve only started religiously applying sunblock on my hands and arms these two years after I noticed some age spots growing on them.

Seriously, this part of our body is a tell tale sign of our age.  We can have really good skin on our face but if our hands are all wrinkled up and our arms are covered with age spots, that’s a dead giveaway.

So at the least before I stepped outdoors each day, I slather on some sunblock on my hands and arms.  At one stage, I applied Oil of Olay UV Moisturiser and now I alternate between Sunplay Clear Water SPF50 and Biore UV Perfect Face Milk SPF50.  While these are sunscreens for the face, I find them suitable for my arms as they offer sufficient protection, have good texture and most important, are affordable for me to apply liberally.

So what about you?  Do you protect your hands and arms from the harmful UV rays daily?

I hv started applying sunblock to my exposed arms too. Only thing is I pinch baby’s stuff to use. Right now, I’m using Baby Buds Solar Care lotion SPF30, supposedly parabens-free, high in titanium dioxide, and zinc oxide, almost as good as Badger which I’m waiting for…it’s not bad once you managed to massage the lotion onto your skin as it’s really thick, but yet surprisingly oil-free. I’m even trying it on my face now.

DR: Nice? Hmmm…will check it out next time. I haven’t been able to order Badger’s sunblock. It’s out of stock and I have to wait.

Badger’s sunblock is grossly oos because apparently some news center been reporting about it being the best and safest sunblock around in the mkt probably due to the Skin Deep website… even my order has been pushed back twice!

    IR: Yah, not surprising.

I always apply sunscreen to parts of my body exposed to the sun before I go out. On my face I use either Olay or Estee Lauder DayWear Plus (daily, even if I stay in all day). On my hands/body, I don’t stick to a certain brand. Right now I have sunscreens from Johnson’s, Neutrogena, and Boots. I buy whatever is reasonably priced (I can go through them quite quickly in warmer months) and has proper anti-UVA and UVB ingredients.

I try to take good care of my hands particularly, since they can get very dry very often. Some tender loving care does make a big difference! ?

PJ: Yeah…I wish I have taken care of them earlier.
