Klorane dry shampoo for a good hair day

Klorane Dry Shampoo

The Great Singapore Sale has started and the first things I grabbed are personal care products at Guardian.  One is the Klorane Oat Extract Gentle Dry Shampoo With Non-Aerosol Spray, which I have been using on a daily basis for over five years now.  I have a very oily scalp and this dry shampoo keeps my hair looking polished by banishing the grease that clings on to my hair.  In fact, I will never leave home without first using this product.

Absorbs the grease and leaves the hair looking clean
Made with softening and protective oat extract, Klorane Dry Shampoo keeps hair sebum at bay by penetrating the hair, absorbing dirt and grease but not drying it out.  It comes with an non-aerosol nozzle for spraying but I find that highly inconvenient so I just squeeze some of the powder onto my bare hands, rub it onto my hair with my head down and brush it out after a minute or two.  When brushed out, Klorane Oat Extract Dry Shampoo takes all these impurities with it, and my hair looks really clean and may I add, with volume.  I just have to be careful not to get my hand or hair damp so that the powder doesn’t clump up and leave an ugly mess on the hair.

Ingredients keep hair soft and manageable
Klorane Oat Extract Dry Shamopoo contains Oryza Sativa(Rice), Starch(Oryza Sativa), Aluminium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Hectorite, Avena Sativa(Oat), Kernel Flour (Avena Sativa), Kaolin, Silica, Cyclodextrin, and Fragance(Parfum).

There’s another version that comes with an aerosol nozzle but I’ve never tried that because I believe using hand to rub in the dry shampoo is the best method especially since I don’t want my scalp looking all whitish with this stuff.  In addition, that version comes with alcohol denat which will probably dry hair out when used over long periods.

Definitely more superior than talc for the hair
I highly recommend this if you have oily hair like mine, or on days when you need to have great looking hair and you do not have time for a wash.  Believe me, it may feel like talc but it’s way better than talc for our hair.  I know because I’ve seen the difference myself.

Klorane Oat Extract Gentle Dry Shampoo is available at most Guardian outlets for S$14.90.  This is a good time to get it as there’s a 20% discount until the end of GSS.

Florence: Great! Glad it works for you! ?

Hello, I saw this and bought it too but it doesn’t seem to work for me.

How much powder do you squeeze onto your hands? I bought the non-aerosol one too and I find that squeezing from the bottle itself, the product doesn’t reach my scalp. Also, brushing out with your hands is enough already? or would I need a hair brush?

Joanne: If you want the powder to reach your scalp, then I suggest you follow the instructions on the bottle which says spray with the nozzle by parting sections of your hair. Or you squeeze powder to your hand and then rub into your scalp. You need to leave it on for about 2 mins before brushing your hair. Just that with this, I find that the scalp usually looks whitish after that. As for the amount, it depends on your hair.

i need this badly! too bad i don’t see this here in msia. might need to ask help from fren to get this for me.

prettybeautiful: There’s one more which is a Wella dry shampoo. But I don’t see it here anyone. If you can find that still in M’sia, you can give it a try too. Much cheaper.

  4. faeryberry says:

i have greasy scalp too, does it clog the pores of the scalp? I actually have clogged pores on my scalp. Sigh…

faeryberry: No, this powder doesn’t clog, at least not mine. Anyway, I don’t apply it directly on the scalp too. Your clogged pores could be due to your shampoo…are you using one for oily hair and do you use a conditioner? If you use conditioner, try going without that if you can for awhile and see if the condition improve.

I’m currently trying out application of witch hazel on my scalp after shampooing and before styling to see if it will help. If yes, I’ll write about it.

  5. Cherry says:

Hi! I’ve been wanting to try the dry shampoo for a while now. I researched on it and found that there are actually many brands out there, but Sinagapore carries only Klorane and Wella (not in production since Pantene took over Wella).

I went to Watson’s today and found the Klorane Dry Shampoo powder and spray. Have you tried the spray version? What do you think would work better? My hair condition is just like yours, greasy and thin!

Cherry: The powder works better because you can pour it on your hand and apply to those greasy area. I don’t use the nozzle. It doesn’t work as well as using hands. As for the spray, I have not tried but I doubt it’ll work any better.
I’m also gonna try to order other brands I found online if this doesnt work out for me. I’ll let you know if they are good!

  6. Bertina M. Herrera says:

Please let me konw how can I buy it. I live in Panama, Central America.
    Many Thanks in advanced.

Bertina: Would you be able to find this in stores? Otherwise, you can obtain it online via bizrate.

  7. Jacintha says:

Hi, chanced upon your website when I was googling for “dry shampoo in singapore” =D
Is the Klorane Dry Shampoo still available at Guardian? Can it be used daily? I am scared it will clog my pores =S

  8. sesame says:

Yes, still available at Guardian. I use it daily for many years. Doesn’t clogged the pores as long as you don’t use it at the roots. I spray the powder in my palm and then rub into the hair.

  9. Siew Ying says:

How many times of usage can a bottle last? My mom’s going to correct her loose cornea and may have to avoid washing her hair for some time.

  10. sesame says:

I use it every day and a bottle probably last me 1.5 months.

  11. Lex says:

Hi! Stumbled across your post while searching for dry shampoos here in Singapore. You mentioned having to keep hair dry to avoid clumping. Is this just before brushing or will my hair be flat and disgusting as I sweat through the day in our lovely Singaporean weather?
    Cheers!

  12. sesame says:

Hi Lex: This dry shampoo is to be used on completely dry hair. Make sure your hands are not wet too. You apply the powder using your hands (pour powder into your palm) and spread on your hair. Wait a couple of minutes before brushing. Hair will not be flat nor disgusting. ?

  13. Lex says:

Thanks for the prompt reply! I’m just concerned that the remnants of the product in my hair, even AFTER brushing out, will just flatten my hair the moment I sweat.

I’ve had times when products would just weigh my hair down like nobody’s business even when they’re supposed to give me volume. Heartbreaking, really.

Shall give Klorane a try though. Thanks again!

  14. sesame says:

No problem…I hope you’ll like it. If you brush off the powder after a few minutes, your perspiration shouldn’t create clumps. ?

  15. Kaika says:

Thanks for sharing this product! I wasn’t able to find it in the Guardian though ;( was wondering if you could share with us which guardian usually keeps more stock and how many ml does one bottle carry?

Thanks for the post and awesome blog !

  16. Sesame says:

I think they discontinued the product because I haven’t been able to find it in many outlets. ?

Thanks for your kind comments…come back often cos I update almost daily.
