Catherine Zeta-Jones’ DIY beauty secrets for flawless skin and great looking hair

CZ
Is it any surprise that our celebrities who clinch big endorsements with major beauty brands actually rely on homemade recipes to upkeep their glowing skin and hair? Well, Catherine Zeta-Jones is one such celebrity who has her own homegrown beauty secrets which include rubbing honey and salt on her skin to beat wrinkles, washing her hair in beer and brushing her teeth with strawberries, apples and pineapples.

According to Mail Online, Catherine Zeta-Jones is fond of using honey and salt on her body.

“I rub a mixture of honey and salt all over my body to moisturise and exfoliate…you wash it off and your skin is gorgeous. Also, I love to eat an apple after a meal, just to cleanse my teeth – they always look polished afterwards. If there aren’t any apples in the fruit bowl, a strawberry will suffice. The juice or pulp of strawberries contains malic acid which serves as an astringent and can lighten surface stains…pineapples work the same way.”

On top of these homemade recipes for her skin, Catherine Zeta-Jones apparently like to condition her hair with honey and beer as well even if it means she’ll smell like the bottom of a beer barrel for days afterwards.

I know the secret of using strawberries on the teeth, even lemon too. However, if you’re keen to try this, remember you still have to brush your teeth because strawberries can cause tooth decay while lemon or pineapples can erode our enamel over time.

And beer on the hair? Anyone tried that before?

Beer on the hair, must be very high cost….unless I very rich ?

    Florence: Haha…true…

  2. Dee says:

I used Watsons’ Beer Mask before, it was supposed to be highly raved. However, my hair ended up really dry (not drunk!).

It did work for some, I am sure.

Dee: I’ve seen that and wanted to try…but I think it was the shampoo. I can save my money I guess.

I tried Skinfood’s Hog Beer hair wash. It sucks! Makes my hair dry and tangled.

pf1123: You reminded me! I’ve used this before. It was okay the first few washes. Didn’t make my hair dry but cannot keep sebum from secreting on my greasy scalp.

hmmm have nv tried beer on hair before but i have seen beer mask for hair in watsons before. tried lemon on teeth tho, just squeeze a little on top of my toothpaste, and voila!

Prettybeautiful: Lemon on toothpaste is actually very refreshing! Recently my hub passed me a tube of Darlie with lemon. Taste great!

  5. pf1123 says:

It made my scalp oily but my ends dry and tangled.

Perhaps we really need to use the actual beer.

pf1123: I heard from a classmate many years ago about using real beer for the hair…but she told me it’s to help promote growth! But see Leon’s comments. I think beer does give a shine.

  6. Leon says:

I have tried beer on my hair and it gives my hair a lovely shine. I am also obsessed with honey:)

Leon: I’m afraid of ants when using honey… ?

I cannot believe that I can say “I’ve tried beer” on my hair. I was a teenager and had no idea how to condition my frizzy long locks, so I tried whatever I read.

The Watson’s beer mask is okay — I rem it worked well and it smelled quite nice.

astrorainfall: I guess the mask worked different for different hair types. Btw, do you remember how the real beer fared on your frizzy long locks? Did it helped control the frizz?

  8. Leon says:

lol, don’t worry, they won’t sting:)

  9. Nora says:

Some of her secret DIY beauty recipes are refuted by professional beauty & health individual.

Beer for your hair – only makes your hair stinks!

Strawberries a good source for Vitamin C but not for smearing on your teeth as it will erode your enamel like pineapples.

Nora: Beer does make hair shiny I believe. Stinks too! As for strawberries, it’s something I wouldn’t recommend using it daily. Maybe once in awhile before a party or something…

  10. Sherry B. says:

Many years ago, I always used beer as a final rinse on my hair. Don’t even know why I stopped doing it; probably decided I preferred drinking the beer!*LOL* Anyway, the point is that it made my hair very shiny, gave a lot of body to my fine locks, and the smell dissipates very quickly once the hair has dried. I think I’ll start using it again; it really works!

Sherry: The smell doesn’t linger on? Oh that’s good. Maybe I’ll try it one day…when I have spare beers!

  11. Kerryanah says:

I have been using the Aussie range shampoo and con for years now, it’s really brilliant, smells yummy and caters to a wide range of hair types – and in one type they use beer hops, it’s great, makes your hair super shiny but without the bad smell.

  12. Jodi says:

I’ve used beer on my hair loads of times. It makes it feel really clean, light, and shiny! I wash my hair as usual, then, standing in the shower, I pour the (stale) beer over my head and massage for a minute or two. Then I rinse. My hair doesn’t smell like beer afterwards, like you would expect. It also calms the frizzies I get from having curly hair.
You can use vinegar in the same manner, but beer really does work wonders. ?

  13. Sesame says:

I think I prefer beer over vinegar. I kinda like the thickening effects it leaves but it’s too ex!
