Drinking green tea promotes slimming?

It looks like my slimming down over these few months could have been a result of drinking green tea almost every other day. I had initially thought that my weight loss was due to eating pineapples but it may not be entirely due to that.

Many of you are probably aware that green tea is particularly rich in a type of polyphenols called catechins and it is these catechins that researchers say may trigger weight loss by stimulating the body to burn calories and decreasing body fat.

According to the Amercian Society for Clinical Nutrition, drinking green tea can increase calories burned through fat breakdown.

green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation…The green tea extract may play a role in the control of body composition via sympathetic activation of thermogenesis, fat oxidation, or both.

Actually I drink green tea for the antioxidant benefits and I had only realized the potential for slimming after Leon of Beauty Secrets Revealed sounded me up because it had an effect for her.  Maybe the green tea plus the pineapples had caused me to lose weight so rapidly over the past few months?

Hi guys the best way of reducing the weight i am going to tell you and you will feel better and more confident. The first thing is that add 10 cups of green tea {twinings}Orange flavour .I lost almost 5 kgs a month .Although I had to start my day with almost 2 cups of it and a thin piece of cake .and during working hours i intake almost 6 cups during the mid day and in the afetrnoon I HAVE a small bowl of fruit youghurt made at home I dont use white sugar or brown sugar .I simply use honey small tea spoon .and this makes my stomach filled and I dont have to fight against hunger .use apple, half a banana ,6 grapes,1/2 tea sp of honey and youghurt .I know its a bit difficult in the beginning but u can have a meal in a saucer so that you learn to eat lesser and keep filling you belly with the green tea .that helps to make your calories burn and detoxifys the body .infact the doctors advice is also obeyed by drinking water along with the tea .
try it and either walk or do an hour exercise in the gym that makes you burn the fat faster .
I would say “Yesterday was a History Tomorrow is a Mystery But Today is a gift and that is why its called Present “….
    takecare
May Allah help us all .and ALLAH HELPS THOSE WHO HELPS THEMSELVES “

Too bad, I can’t take pineapples ‘cos it is too acidic for my stomach (I have gastritis whenever I took citrus fruits). I have just bought a box of OSK green teabags and browsing through the internet just to find out whether it is ok to drink after dinner, there I found your website – after going through about the comments by others, I’m beginning to feel encouraged to start drinking green tea to loose weight. Poor me, my weight keeps increasing after I stopped work 3 years ago…hopefully I can manage to loose a few kilos..hehe. Thanks for sharing.

  5. sesame says:

Great…I hope it’ll work for you…but even if it doesn’t, green tea is generally good for health too. ?

  6. Dee says:

I’ve heard a lot of advertisements on the radio lately about green tea HP (buy it at the mall!) that claim to be the same as drinking 42 cups of green tea. Is that healthy and is it really the same as ‘original’ green tea?

  7. Tallis says:

Oh… I just read up that it’s the same with Oolong tea as well… It is one of the teas that will help with loosing weight..
I am trying to loose all these stomach fat that ive gain from many years of not exercising (it’s just not my thing ? sadly)..so hearing about this is great. <3
Now I am just wondering weather drinking it cold or hot makes a differece.

  8. sesame says:

Tea is always better drunk hot isn’t it?

  9. Mona says:

  11. Tammy says:

Was it cold green tea or hot green tea?

  12. sesame says:

    I drank it hot.

How much green tea should i consume a day to lose weight ? I usually drink Boh’s green tea(its tastes bitter) , and Lipton’s green tea which tastes quite okay . Can that work?

  14. sesame says:

It should work if it’s green tea. I drank one or two cups a day. It depends. No guarantee on weight loss but it’s good for health even if it doesn’t help you lose weight.

  15. Siew Ying says:

I drink green tea regularly, every day if I can help it. It doesn’t make me lose kilos (I’m already borderline underweight as it already is), but instead it curbs my tummy. I’m pretty lean overall and my only problem area is the accumulation of fats there.

Sometimes I drink green tea with 2 green plums added in, based on a tea recipe from a book. I buy the soft green plums from Umeya, but I guess pretty much any sourish plum will do (I substituted the black plums 乌梅requested in the recipe). This works better than plain green tea, because it made me feel like my stomach’s empty after a while. Never knew about adding in dried hawthorn though, shall try it next time. Is there a need to boil the hawthorn since it is a medicinal herb?

I drink tea for its detoxing, slimming and antixoidant properties. From my knowledge, Oolong and Pu’er tea are good for slimming too. I sometimes buy the Pu’er with osmanthus natural slimming tea from Tea Pal at Plaza Singapura ($16+). The tea’s has a sweet tinge due to the osmanthus and pretty soothing to drink. However, I still prefer green tea as I feel that it’s a notch better for slimming, plus it has so many additional benefits.

Anyone knows where to get the Korean green tea with brown rice? That piqued my curiosity.

  16. sesame says:

Green tea with plums? Sure sounds like a fast slimming recipe!

Never seen Korean green tea with brown rice around…wonder if you can get them at the Korean supermarkets?
