Share: what’s your scary beauty nightmare?

It looked like my hair had grown long enough and for some strange reasons, I was trying to comb back my hair into a bun, probably inspired by the Geishas. But no matter what I did, my scalp was visible like this grass head doll!  There were wide gaps of at least 1 inch between each strand and I grasped in horror as I realized that my entire head look really sparse…and I mean  S P A R S E as I could feel the air above my head.  OH NO, HOW? (>_<)

And then I woke up in cold sweat and I realized, it was just a nightmare! *PHEW*

This isn’t the first time I dreamt about my hair.  I’ve lost count but I often have nightmares and it’s always about my hair.  Most of the time, it’s got to do with me losing more hair or cutting it into a strange style or they turning all white. I can’t recall having nightmares about other aspects of my body; so I guess it has to do with the insecurities I have about my hair.

How about you? Do you have nightmares related to your hair or your skin or your body? Share them! (I hope I’m not the only one having such nightmares!)

Oh, dear – that IS upsetting, (((sesame))). That is the insecurity of your unconscious made manifest!

In the past I had a recurring nightmare about losing and looking for a contact lens. I have not had this for quite a while, but since we’re discussing it, I HOPE IT DOESN’T COME BACK!

BTW, in my dreams I’m a lot thinner. And younger! LOL

  2. sesame says:

*sigh* yes, actually I don’t really worry about it very much and am not too bothered when I hear comments about it but I think in my subconscious, I’m most insecure about it.

Haha…younger and thinner in your dream? That’s good! I can never see see myself clearly in my dreams! If it’s the hair, that’s all I can see clearly.

I usually have dreams where all my teeth fall out and my entire mouth is bleeding. Or my teeth are chipped in the weirdest places. It’s scary as hell! I guess it’s because I hate my crooked teeth?

But nightmares like these always remind me that even if my teeth are crooked, at least i still have them!

Busting the weighing scale for me!

  5. sesame says:

Could be that. Usually, it’s linked to some of our inner insecurities that may not even be apparent to us.

  6. sesame says:

    Haha… ?

  7. Yvette says:

I dreamt once that I had skin cancer and the doctor had to take a chunk out of my skin.

And this is why I wear sunscreen every single day. haha

  8. sesame says:

Oh! But it’s a good thing you use sunscreen regularly because of the nightmare! ?

  9. Cristina says:

Months ago I used to dream that I was becoming really skinny…sometimes my body looked like a lamp post, a white skeleton…In real life, I was down to 43kg (I am 158cm) and I was so afraid that I would lose more kgs.

I’ve through a phase that I had the recurrent nightmare that I was walking through bright light without sunscreen. Now my beauty nightmares are usually about my body and facial hair (most of the times they grow really fast in dreams).

Last week, I dreamed that my sunscreen got into my eyebrows, “burnt” my brow hair and left me without any. Scary!

You dreamt a lot about sunscreen and boy I won’t like one that leave me without eyebrows. I often get the sunscreen on my eyebrow when I apply! Oh and growing a lot of facial hair in dreams isn’t fun either.

That was a really good post, you guys!

please check out my blog though, thanks!

OK, y’all are scaring me with those nightmares!

  17. sesame says:

Hahaha…some of them are scary and I realized a common nightmare is about sunscreen!

  18. makeupmag says:

Your current bob looks nice. ? And even if it turns all white, that’s kind of a cool look, I feel! ?

  19. N. says:

Wow, creepy nightmares. I rarely have any nightmare, most of my dreams don’t make any sense whatsoever. But beauty related nightmare? Never, even if I am unhappy with some aspect of my body, or scared of the sun, cancer.

  20. sesame says:

It’s good you never had a beauty nightmare! Haha…not fun!

  21. sesame says:

    Hahaha…you think so. ?

  22. astrorainfall @ beauty box says:

I had one where my skin kept breaking out in acne…which is def manifesting my constant annoyance about having pimples…I believe we dream about what concerns us the most…:-)

  23. Berry Mii says:

actually if you have insecurities abt your hair, have you considered going to National Skin Centre for a consultation? For me, I ever dreamt that as I wash my face, my skin started to melt off and chunks of my flesh dropped onto the basin. maybe due to my constant struggle with sensitive skin. =

  24. sesame says:

Well, I’ve passed that stage of going for consultation…a waste of time to me as they came up with nothing useful for me. I rather rely on commercial products.

Wa, your nightmare sounds really horrid though! ?

  25. sesame says:

I guess the dreams manifest our deepest fears?

  26. Coraline says:

    Hi sesame,
actually i had the same nightmare as you before! and it happened quite a number of times when i was younger.. i detest the texture of my natural curls, they were not only very curly but frizzy till no end! And when i was still in school, my parting was abit wide.. so i guess subconsciously i am indeed very bothered by it!

So happy to know that someone shares the same nightmare as me.. haha

  27. sesame says:

    Haha…you’re certainly not alone! ?
