Outfit of the day: boho chic with batwing top

It was my first experience shopping on ASOS and it was a hit and some misses. I chose this top and some dresses from ASOS Petite and turned out, the petite is way too petite for me. I’ll have to return the dresses for an exchange or refund – at least that offers some sort of reprieve for me.

That’s the problem with shopping for clothes online; sometimes you hit, but sometimes you miss. Anyway, I have been wondering too if the clothes at ASOS are too young for me although the thing is, I’ve always picked fashion pieces based on style rather than age although I do favor those that are more youngish looking. However, there are two things I won’t wear – the mini skirt and the pants! One makes me look ludicrous and the other makes me look like a hobbit. I also don’t wear spaghetti tops nor dresses on their own for I like my armpits arms covered up!

So are there stuff you absolutely won’t wear? What are they and why?

Outfit of the day:
– Batwing Top With Swallow Print from ASOS.com
– Short skirt from Esprit
– Inside black tank top from Marks & Spencer
– Black strappy shoes from Mphosis

First of all, that’s a cute top, and I like your nail color! Second, there are MANY things I do not wear. I like a more modest – but NOT prim – look, though many think I dress too young. I feel age is a state of mind, and forget fashion – instead, develop your own sense of STYLE.

    I like the top too!
I don’t wear cropped tights or 3/4 length pants, they do not flatter my legs ?
I do not wear leopard prints as well! ?

  3. sesame says:

Yeah, you’re right…it’s more like a state of mind. You look very young…saw your profile pics. ?

  4. sesame says:

I can’t wear cropped tights too…my thighs are too fat and my legs too short. I don’t like 3/4 pants but I have one where I wear on occasions I need to run around but can’t wear shorts.

I must say, you look young in these photos! I can never wear batwing tops because I am too skinny for them. And that limits my choices. What a pity!

I absolutely won’t wear tube tops or spaghetti tops alone, because I am too skinny for them. Sigh… But I do like short skirts with the length you are wearing. They make the wearer look younger, but not too young like the mini-skirts.

Oh thank you! I used to think that it’s okay to wear something loose when one’s skinny but apparently, it makes one look thinner.

Ooooh Ms Sesame you look great! It definitely suits you! ?
For me, I won’t wear harem pants- it doesn’t suit my petite frame at all and makes me look mismatched and imbalanced. I also won’t wear lantern dresses/skirts for the same reason. I used to despite wearing tights/leggings because I have relatively big hips, but have started embracing them slowly though haha ?

Oh, and I try to stay away from strapless tops/dresses. Can’t find a decent strapless bra to match, and I don’t like walking around worrying that the top/dress might fall! >_<

Hey Stephanie, call me Sesame. ?

I had to google to find what are harem pants and yeah, I can’t wear those too for the same reason as you. I don’t look good at all in pants and I try not to wear them. And I can totally emphatize why you don’t wear strapless tops. Haha…we have the same fear.

Loved your batwing top! Very stylish and chic <3

Yet for me, I cannot wear that kind of orange as it makes my skin looks dull and dark somehow… I also don't wear tight skirts/dresses/pants as they show how huge my hip is =.= Another thing I do not wear are vests, somehow they make me look way more mature than I actually am… (big sigh!!!)

My head is rather big so it makes my body proportion less elongated so I stay away from things that shorten my body. I don’t wear chunky short skirts that end a couple of inches above my knee, no bermudas and no 3/4 capri pants either. I don’t wear harem pants or too-skinny or narrow-ankled jeans or trousers that make my thighs look any bigger than they are.

I don’t wear clinging t-shirts that are too long and hug the hips because I don’t want my body to look any longer… no crop tops either. I like boat neck collars because they look good on small-busted asians like myself and give length to my body… strapless tops shorten the lower half of my body.

I have an hourglass figure that’s unfortunately lacking in the leg department so it makes my body look long … I wear lots of short dresses or anything that plays up my waist and small (flat) bum. I wear pumps that make my legs look longer and aim for a petite, rectangular silhouette.

Thank you! ? I kept thinking this is brown and didn’t see it as orange though. It’s a first for me to wear this color.

I think huge hip is quite an issue with many women…I have that too. ?

  13. sesame says:

Dresses are nice…I love them but I can’t wear those that are too short. I imagne you’ll look good in those retro looking dresses.

Hoho….I have a lot of styles I can’t wear. Big hips, thighs and arms restrict a lot.

But sometimes I don’t care, as long as I am happy wearing those clothes.

Hehe sorry, I’m used to addressing someone formally during commenting unless I’m a regular, but I shall ?

I also don’t wear pants that much lately due to the fact that it’s hard getting good-fitting, flattering and comfortable pants ? Yeah, no strapless for me haha! ?
