Hey, my new eyeglasses are concealing my eye bags

Is it strange if I told you I got myself this pair of eyeglasses to usher in a new phase in my life? And if you’re wondering if it’s because I want to change my image, the answer is no although I reckon it does that somewhat. Actually, I already have a pair of eyeglasses but it was outdated and since I’ve decided not to use contact lenses so frequently, I went ahead to invest in a better looking eyeglasses for daily wear. And thank God, this pair is very lightweight and doesn’t leave deep marks on my nose bridge.

Apparently, this NXT optical frame is said to be one of the lightest weight corrective spectacles in the world. It also has superb impact resistance, is highly flexible and scratch resistance. I was also told that it can withstand being tossed around.

Okay, my hair isn’t great looking here and I’ve since had it cut. I probably also come across as slightly dorky but as I looked at the pictures, I realized that wearing glasses actually camouflaged my eye bags pretty well. Heheh…that’s kind of neat! So if you have severe eye bags, then perhaps wearing eyeglasses is the way to go!

Oh looking really good there! ? I don’t think you look dorky at all, though, you look quite professional but not in an older/more mature way either! And I think it actually makes you look younger than your age ?

I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 8, which is 18 years ago, and only recently switched to contacts 3 years ago (Since I was 23) because of my more active lifestyle, the need to wear sunglasses (Getting transitions on my glasses cost way too much) and so that I don’t look like a total bookworm (Even though I am) ?

Thanks Stephanie! To be honest, I was kind of shock when I looked at the pictures I took and realized that yeah, the glasses make me look younger, which is a total surprise. I always thought glasses make one look older and the last one I had certainly do!

Oh ya, I can’t use sunglasses with these and I didn’t make the special lenses which allow them to become tinted in sunlight (transitions?). ?

Yes definitely conceal the dark circle for me too… better than any concealer out there… once at the department store counter the woman was applying makeup for me & she put in concealer etc but i still look extremely tired… no matter how much concealer i put in you can still see the puffiness around the eyes area… but when i get home i took out my contact lenses and put on my glasses… with the expert putting my makeup earlier & glasses covering my dark circle i look so much better… but too bad glasses gave me headache & plus i heard it change your face when you wear long over time… i’m not sure it’s true…

I like the way the black is gradated, lightens as the bottom of the frame.

I have not heard of NXT frame. Maybe next time I make a pair of glasses… … I made two new ones last year.

    Thank you Shandi!

  7. Sesame says:

Yes!!! Concealers is one thing but still the bag is there so it can make one look tired no matter. The frame of the glasses cover up and brings a more horizontal dimension to the face…okay if you know what I mean by that. LOL.

  8. Sesame says:

It’s the first time I’ve come across this type of frame too. I wanted something light and was recommended this one. They have another one in read.

  9. Swati says:

lovely glasses but I think they are looking too big for your face!!! a size less would have been better though the bigger size definitely helps the angled vision! no offence ? the thing is even once I had got same kinda frame but it was too big for my face and I realized it afterwards. and, yes, glasses do give an image change…they make one look more professional ?

    Good choice, great look! ?
Just keep the special cleaning cloth with you at all times, so you can clean the lenses properly (and often). It can be very annoying (and I imagine not good for your eyes too) to have smudges or specks of dust in your field of vision.
PS there is one more advantage to wearing glasses: you can go for different “sexy” looks: student, teacher, secretary, librarian… Your husband will appreciate it!! ?

  11. Sesame says:

    Boo hoo! So sad! ?

Haha…just kidding. It might be a tad big but it could be the design cos it’s a standard size. Anyway, this was the best out of the multitudes I tried. ?

  12. Sesame says:

Woah, that sounds a little naughty…heheh.

And yeah, I need to be more disciplined about cleaning; smudges can be unsightly.

  13. Amanda says:

I used to love wearing eyeglasses for they can hide my dark circles. But I don’t look good in frames, so I’ve given up the idea long time ago.

Yes, my glasses do this for me too! My eyebags are very obvious in my photos when I’m not wearing my glasses, makeup or no makeup.

To avoid eye bags I use Vichy Liftactiv Retinol HA Eye, it works really well for me, maybe you should try it?

  16. Sesame says:

I see…well, your sunnies look pretty good on you. ?

  17. Sesame says:

Same! Eyebags are obvious for me too, either way. And they tend to sort of weigh the face downwards.

  18. Sesame says:

Great that it works for you but I don’t go for brands that are not in the natural/organic category at the moment.

  19. Renz says:

hehe definitely not dorky, looks pretty professional! speaking of which…I need a new pair of glasses! The NXT frames look pretty good! especially the highly flexible and scratch resistant part!

  20. Sesame says:

Yeah, check it out. I like that it’s lightweight. And thanks for the compliment! ?

  21. Liv@wrinklemania says:

Look great there! I am also thinking to adopt another pair of glasses, been wearing my current one for two years, although i don’t wear them every day, alternate with contact lenses. You look good with this frame because your skin color is fair, I have quite dark skin, so I guess a solid dark color frame will suit me better… decisions, decisions… ?

  22. Sesame says:

Thanks for the compliment! If you want to know if the frames look good, bring someone whose opinion you can trust along when you shop for your next pair. ?

  23. Leona says:

Hmm, for me, glasses kind of magnifies my eyebags! By the way, can I know where you got your pair of NXT frames and how much are they on average?

  24. Sesame says:

Could it be the shape of the specs? The longer narrower ones should sort of conceal. As for the glasses, I got it from Crystal Optics at Hougang Mall #02-07; have been their regular customer for years. The NXT frames are a bit ex…in total I paid 388 for this pair and the lens I chose was the cheapest.
