Share: do you like using makeup remover wipes?

I can certainly understand why makeup remover wipes are popular with ladies, given how convenient they are especially during times of emergencies. Some people have told me that if you have no time to wash your face, these wipes do come in handy. But I hardly ever use them because I just don’t like them much. I think the scent of the wipes just turn me off. That, plus the fact that I tend to associate wipes with babies’ bottoms. (U_U)

Less synthetic ingredients
But I decided to order these makeup remover towelettes from Blum Naturals because the ingredient list look more agreeable to me – alcohol-free, paraben-free, fragrance-free, SLS free, and free of most synthetic preservatives.

Ingredient list
Aqua (water), Decyl Glucoside**, Organic Chamomile Extract*, Organic Aloe Vera Extract*, Organic Ylang Ylang Oil*, Organic Cucumber Extract*, Gluconolactone***, Sodium Benzoate***, Glycerin*.
*Plant Derived **Sugar Derived ***Naturally Derived

Infused with natural botanicals
These normal skin towelettes are infused with natural and organic botanicals that removes eye & face make-up. Although they do a decent job of cleaning my face, I find them kinda dry compared to others I’ve tried.

May not be so great when used long term
Since these are towelettes, I have to use them to wipe away whatever impurities are on my face. Sure, they’re soft but there’s a bit of rubbing of the skin if you really want to remove the makeup and impurities on your skin thoroughly. So I’m not sure if they’re all that great for our skin when used in the long turn.

Over to you
So how about you ladies? Do you have a habit of using makeup remover wipes? Which is your favorite then? Or are you like me, preferring to avoid using them as far as possible?

I had never tried any of these. However, I carry around a 50ml bottle of Dr Bronner’s Magic Soap in Peppermint in my bag & use it as a face wash, hand wash or even rinse my mouth with it sometimes.

I love makeup remover wipes just because they’re so convenient for those nights you get in too late and are too wiped out to wash your face. I agree that they do involve alot of wiping and rubbing of the skin that can be bad in the long run, but that they’re especially good to keep around for emergencies and are a better option than falling asleep in your makeup because your too lazy to wash your face. If you own makeup wipes it then makes you feel like you have no excuse for going to sleep with makeup because they’re so convenient!

Not on a regular basis, I just use them in a pinch, usually in the office, when I need to dash to the gym for a class and don’t have time to use the micellar cleansing water.

I don’t like the rubbing of the wipes on my face too. I much prefer cleansing oil followed by a mild cleanser to double cleanse, without too much rubbing on my face.

I just use them in combination with an actual make-up remover,if not, like you, I feel like I’m rubbing the skin off my face and I really don’t like it,especially on my eyes

Wow you rinse your mouth with the soap? Doesn’t it taste funny?

  6. Sesame says:

I see…it’s definitely great for emergencies and I guess, even though it’s not ideal, wiping your makeup with it when you can’t wash your face properly is at least better than not doing so at all.

  7. Sesame says:

Yeah, the rubbing is not great for our skin. Prefer to wash my face normally.

  8. Sesame says:

Oh, so you use the wipes along with your makeup remover? That’s interesting! I guess that’ll reduce the rubbing by quite a bit.

  9. Ness says:

I just use Neutrogena’s towelettes and they don’t seem to cause any irritation. So true Audreiana, lol I’ve been that girl at the end of a big night out saved by my wipes.

Occasionally I’ll wake up the next morning and find 3 or 4 of them next to the bin in my bathroom…clearly I was too drunk to hit the target!

  10. Zanka says:

I actually use baby wipes on my face…I find them to be more gentle than make-up wipes and usually they are better value (more wipes in a pack for less).

I like using them for just a quick wipe when I get back home and want to have a clean face. They are practical and quick. But its hard to find one that is soft and doesnt irritate.

  12. fwy says:

The one in the scent of rose taste really funny, but the one in peppermint is much nicer. I will stick to using peppermint as the scent appeals more to me.

Hi, I like using the simple brand which is odorless meant for sensitive skin. I used when I’m traveling for convenience. Otherwise I used a milk cleanser w a gel cleanser to double cleanse when @ home.

  14. St Thomas says:

Hey thanks for blogging..After heavy makeup if i tried to use that makeup remover wipes on my clients face they compalin about stress on face. So i use to wash their face first and apply soft wipes on face after it.

  15. Sesame says:

    That’s true…and because they’re wetter, there’s less rubbing.

  16. Sesame says:

Practical is the right word! How about baby wipes? Zanka reminded me of them and I remember them to be softer.

  17. Sesame says:

Ah I can imagine. Probably also cos we’re use to peppermint in our mouth than rose I suppose…

  18. Sesame says:

Yeah, wipes are great for traveling and Simple is quite a nice brand…cheap and good.

  19. Sesame says:

My experience with makeup artists is that they’ll always use the wipes…more convenient and faster for them.

  20. Raelynn says:

I use baby wipes together with make up remover waters to clean my hands while putting on makeup. cause i usually use my hands to apply liquid/cream foundations and eye shadows etc.

  21. Sesame says:

I see…they’re good for that purpose for sure!

  22. Rola says:

I only use makeup remover wipes when I travel. They are hit or miss for me. One time I completely tried my face out with Biore wipes, not good. I like Josie Maran and Yes to Cucumbers wipes. I want to try Blum too.

  23. Sesame says:

I’m sad that we no longer have Yes to Cucumbers here…I’ll certainly be keen to try their wipes.

  24. Mee says:

I can understand that makeup remover wipes are very handy and useful when you are on the go or are simply too lazy, but I don’t even use wipes when I am travelling. I don’t know why, but I just prefer my remover lotions more (: I always have the feeling that makup isn’t removed properly with a wipe (:

  25. Sesame says:

You are probably right about that.
