VMV Hypoallergenics 100% Organic Know-It-Oil

I can now totally understand why a number of you like using virgin coconut oil. It’s quite an awesome oil and I wish I had discovered it earlier. For some reason, I kept thinking that the smell would be quite unbearable but turned out, this is one of the best smelling oils I’ve come across. I mean, unless you really detest coconut, there’s no way you’ll dislike the smell. Moreover, it’s a very versatile oil, being suitable for both our hair and skin. In fact, you can just about use it anywhere on your body.

USDA-certified
Anyway, this VMV Hypoallergenics organic virgin coconut oil is 100% USDA-certified. I don’t think it’s that much different from the others in the market except that is has a claim of being clinically validated. The product is food grade and cold-1st-pressed, meaning it’s as fresh-from-the-tree and unprocessed as possible.

Skin benefits
Virgin coconut oil is abundant in medium-chain triglycerides and comes with fatty acids native to skin. So it improves cell wall saturation and is suitable for most skin types. The oil, which absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy afterfeel, helps reduce inflammation and replace lost lipids. Oh, something else that is wonderful about this oil is that it has sun protection properties!

Not application friendly
The only problem with this product is that it is not application friendly. I have to use another dropper to dispense the oil. Alternatively, you can transfer the oil into a suitable bottle.

Cost and availability
I like this oil but I’m not sure if I’ll repurchase this particular one because there are a number of other virgin coconut oil in the market. This small 50ml bottle cost S$14 and should last quite awhile if you use it on your face and neck only. You can get it to try before going on to buy the bigger bottle if you’re satisfied with the results. The Know-It-Oil is available at VMV Hypoallergencies Skin-Specialist Boutique located at #B3-48 ION Orchard.

Nice post. I think there are some other very good organic products on the market. It would be very interesting to read some further reviews from you about such topic.

Would like to maybe try VCO again because I know it has some very good properties for the skin..but it is quite strong and irritated me like everything else I try ha!

  3. Eco Beauty says:

Sooo loving VCO. It’s great for dehydrated skin, doesn’t ‘worsen’ pimples and doesn’t make skin oilier. I also love how I can just slather it everywhere, not just on my face. My current one comes in a jar and although I’m not particularly fond of products in jars, it works well for VCO because it solidifies most of the time.

Sure…keep coming back for more. ?

  5. Sesame says:

Oh what a shame! I thought it will work for everyone. Could it be the quality of that particular one you tried?

  6. Sesame says:

I saw a number of the jar and pot ones at iHerb and wanted to order but the one that is popular is OSS! Bummer. Shall try to order again. But VCO is quite wonderful…and I think it smells delicious. Speaking of solidifying, I was a bit freaked out when it did during my last trip out. I had to warm it up with my hands!

  7. Scott says:

The quality was pretty good I think..just can’t leave anything on my skin without irritation..my skin is so frustrating..just on to the next one now..hope something works one day ?

  8. Scott says:

oh and hope I don’t sound like a “fussy” person or anything seasame..honestly I wouldn’t care if the lotion made me smell like a polecat as long as it worked.

  9. Marla says:

I love mixing coconut oil with sugar for a nice facial scrub.

  10. Sesame says:

No, I don’t think you’re being fussy. It’s important to find something that works well for your skin or at least be suitable. And I agree the smell is secondary although I wouldn’t want a bad smell to linger the entire day. Haha…

  11. Sesame says:

Ah that! I must give it a try soon. Thanks for the tip!

  12. Scott says:

    Hey..thanks for your understanding..much appereciated.

  13. Emily says:

Hypoallergenic = my life. I’m allergic to everything, so seeing that word always jumps out at me. I’ve heard coconut oil works like a charm. Have you come across any more generic versions, perhaps that I can find in a drug store? Or any online that are reasonably priced?

  14. Sesame says:

Yay, try iHerb.com. It’s got various affordable coconut oil.

  15. Alisa says:

Depending on where you live, you should be able to buy coconut oil in the grocery store. Just go to the oil section and look around. I buy mine in a huge jar from Costco. It’s organic, too!

Do you recommend this as a cleanser for combination skin? I’d like to try! How do you cleanse with this? Thank you!

  17. Shoot Anonymous Anonymous says:

Also, do you think this would be nice as moisturiser under the eyes?

  18. Sesame says:

Not as a cleanser unless you use the oil cleansing method, which requires hot water which I don’t think is good for our skin. I would only use it to remove my eye makeup.

  19. Sesame says:

It’s good…I’m using it but just a dab.

  20. Sam says:

I have been using oils for ages now, particularly pure virgin coconut oil and love it! Best moisturiser ever. I purchase a cheap bp (medical grade) coconut oil for £1.00…there is no need to spend a fortune. Great site btw!

  21. Sesame says:

Thanks Sam! Oh £1.00? Wow, that’s like really really cheap!

  22. Pauline says:

    Hi
U mentioned that u use a dab of CO under the eyes. Does it give u any oil cysts?

  23. Sesame says:

No, it doesn’t for me. I’m good with using most oils under my eyes with the exception of rosehip oil.

  24. Pauline says:

    Hi Sesame,
I have been using VCO in place of my moisturizer twice daily since Christmas Day 2013. However I now notice little red bumps on my skin. Is this a normal reaction? Cos I have read in some websites that VCO has detoxification purposes and draws out impurities etc. I only use 2 or maximum 3 drops each time.
Also, what’s your take on mixing VCO with other oils like Grapeseed oil, Lavender oil etc?

  25. Sesame says:

Hmm…I wonder about the red bumps. If it disappears after a few days, maybe it’s fine but otherwise, perhaps it’s not suitable for your skin. I think mixing with other oils is okay provided the smell turns out okay.

  26. Edz says:

Im using Nature’s coco virgin coconut oil and it’s cheaper than this one. love the results for my hair and made my face so lit.
