Nature’s Baby Organics & NutriBiotic body washes

Nature's Baby Organics Shampoo & Shower Gel
A reader had emailed me recently asking me about the body washes that I’m using. Actually, I have been using a soap from Soap Paradise mostly but on some days, I alternate with a body wash. I was using one from NutriBiotic and currently, trying out the Nature’s Baby Organics that I bought for my son. Both products were purchased from iHerb. I’ll just be upfront by stating that there is nothing outstanding about these body washes. They’re both in the natural category and the only thing worth mentioning is that they’re affordable.

Nature’s Baby Organics, Shampoo & Body Wash,
Vanilla Tangerine | 236.5 ml, US$7.96

I was buying Akin Baby Shampoo and Body Wash for my son but found it rather expensive. When I spotted this product at iHerb, I thought the price is really affordable. I first purchased the 473ml bottle and we’re just 3/4 way through the bottle after using it for nearly two months.

Ingredients: Aqua (water), decyl glucoside (vegetable origin), cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine (from coconut oil), disodium cocoyl glutamate (from coconut oil), sodium lauroyl oat amino acid (from oat), hydrolyzed wheat protein, dimethyl lauramine oleate (from safflower oil), *organic aloe barbadensis leaf juice (aloe vera), butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), aleurites moluccana seed oil (kukui nut oil), macadamia ternifolia seed oil (macadamia nut oil), carthamus tinctorius (safflower) seed oil, *organic symphytum officinale (comfrey) extract, *organic calendula officinalis flower extract, *organic chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, panthenol (pro vitamin B-5), tocopherol (natural vitamin E), sodium benzoate (food preservative), potassium sorbate (food preservative), capryloyl glycine (amino acid), undecylenoyl glycine (amino acid), glycine (amino acid), vanilla planifolia & citrus tangerina, citric acid.

The product is well reviewed and quite a favorite. It lathers up pretty well because it contains a couple of surfactants but I find it rather gentle on the skin. Although I’m not a fan of vanilla but the combination with tangerine makes the scent pleasant enough. The product is 100% vegan, free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate & propylene glycol. The only thing I don’t like is the misleading name and labeling because the product only contains three organic ingredients. But because it works well for my son and me, I’ve already repurchased the second bottle even though I’m not done with the first bottle. For the price, I consider this a good purchase.

Nutribiotic super shower gel
NutriBiotic, Super Shower Gel, Fresh Fruit | 355 ml, US$5.37
Okay, I bought this really because of the low price. I am not too fussy with the ingredients of body washes as long as they do not contain harsh ingredients and this one seems okay by me. It is indicated as free of sodium lauryl sulfate, cocamide DEA, chlorine derivatives, colorings, and parabens. But the ingredient list didn’t make total sense to me initially. Like what in the world is “tissue respiratory factors”? When I googled it, I found that it is actually a trade name for an ingredient derived from yeast cells that functions as an anti-inflammatory and moisturizing agent.

Ingredients:Purified water, sodium C12-14 olefin sulfonate; cocamidopropyl betaine; sodium cocoyl sarcosinate; soyamidopropylkonium chloride; Citricidal (grapefruit seed extract); extracts of comfrey, chamomile, calendula, cucumber, and horsetail; magnesium/iron/zinc/copper/silicon glycopeptides; tissue respiratory factors; hydroxypropyl trimonium vegatable protein; tocopherol acetate; citric acid; sodium chloride; sodium benzoate; potassium sorbate; and fragrance.

Performance wise, this one does a good enough job. It lathers well, foams up and cleanses dirt and grime pretty much. Only gripe for me is that the smell of this body wash reminds me of children’s medicine. I couldn’t help thinking that I was bathing in cough syrup. In fact, I was a bit put off after one wash and had to stop for awhile before resuming. It took me some days to get used to the smell but after getting over the hurdle, the body wash was good enough. However, I doubt I’ll repurchase even though I concede that the price point is attractive.

What I really, really love about iherb is that their prices are usually so much cheaper (less than $10 for a body wash!) that even with the delivery costs, they still offer very competitive prices. Their delivery is also very efficient, sometimes even faster than local ones… :/

Anyway, on to body washes, I’ve never tried both brands. I’m now about to finish my bottle of Nature’s Gate with papaya as the main ingredient. It’s just ‘okay’, doesn’t really give me that fresh feeling but makes my skin soft so I guess I’ll be repurchasing it. I have ‘chicken skin’ on my arms which most soaps and body wash trigger so am not too experimental.
Eco Beauty last post is: Homemade, organic deodorant. Much less effort than you might think.

I’ve been into Dr Woods Castille Liquid Soaps from iherb. Affordable, lasts really long and does a good cleaning! I quite like Nutribiotic Face wash. Very very basic so I only use it for morning(since nothing major has happened that requires deep pore cleansing) and evening after cleansing w cleansing milk ? but oh so economical! I have saved so much $$ with iherb ever since I’ve stopped buying from local stores.

Yes, some products are so cheap I don’t mind buying to try. Causes a lot of wastage though… ?

Btw, I used to have more obvious “chicken skin”. Somewhere along the way, it improved and it’s not too bad now. I wonder what happened…was it something I used or something I ate?

I was contemplating to get Nutribiotic Face Wash but got turned off after using the body wash. But I did read many raves over the product…oh well…let’s see if I’m tempted again. ?
