Baby products seem to sell like hot cakes. Well, at least for this Weleda Calendula Baby Shampoo And Body Wash. It was always out of stock and it took me a few months before I managed to grab a tube at iHerb. But I just checked and stocks seem to be available for now again. Not sure if it’ll deplete quickly though because it is popular and I’m telling you that this is great for everyone in the family, not just baby.
I’ve gone through a couple of the creamy body washes from Weleda and this is now my favorite, right next to the Weleda Wild Rose Creamy Body Wash which I’ve reviewed here. In fact, I like it so much, I didn’t even share it with my son this round. This is one selfish mama. Heh. But then again, my son is no longer a baby but mama, being a woman, can still be called a babe. (^_^)
Weleda Calendula Baby Shampoo and Body Wash | 200 ml US$9.98
Okay, seriously, if you have a baby or toddler, this Weleda Calendula Baby Shampoo And Body Wash is ideal for the little one because it’s formulated with the mildest organic and natural plant-based cleansers. A tear-free formulation, this shampoo and body wash with organic calendula extract and almond oil is a gentle wash that retains the moisture in baby’s hair and skin, leaving it feeling silky smooth and protected from drying out.
Here’s the full ingredient list:
Water (Aqua), Coco-Glucoside, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Alcohol, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate (Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate), Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Flower Extract, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Limonene*, Linalool*.
* from natural essential oils
Works as well as the adult formulation
The reason I like this product is because even though it has a milder formulation, it feels exactly like the adult creamy body wash. Perhaps it is more gentle but I can’t help but feel that their ingredient list look somewhat similar. So in terms of effectiveness, I can’t tell any difference. The scent is distinct but very soothing and works well as a baby product. As a shampoo, it’ll work well for baby’s fine hair but I didn’t use it on mine because I don’t think it’ll cleanse my hair well.
So would I recommend using this over the adult body wash? Let’s just say if you enjoy Weleda’s bath products and are keen to explore, you might want to give it a try. It is a few cents more expensive than the adult formula but it works just as well. I definitely have no problems repurchasing this product although I have to concede that a tube doesn’t last too long.
Weleda is a German brand with a line of organic beauty and natural skin care products free of synthetic fragrances, colors, preservatives and raw materials derived from mineral oils. Products are also said to be dermatologically tested. iHerb carries most of their products and you can check out the reviews to have an idea of how well the products are doing for others. That was also how I got started on the brand, having identified the products of interest and then reading the various reviews. But be aware that many of their items move really fast and furious. I’d to give a number a miss because I never seem to be able to add them in my cart quickly enough. So be warned and happy stocking!
