Une Olive en Provence: olive goodness for the body

Une Olive en Provence Travel Set Une Olive en Provence: olive goodness for the body

Along with the Une Olive en Provence Shower Gel I reviewed last week, I was gifted with a set of Une Olive en Provence products for the body saturated with extra virgin extracts of olive oil. Apart from the foot cream, the hand cream, body lotion, shower gel, and two soaps I tested were all in travel sizes and come in a lovely “travel box”.

Full of olive goodness
For those who missed my last review, the Une Olive en Provence range was founded in France and uses ingredients from most parts of an olive tree such as its oil, leaves, flowers and vegetal squalane. Besides being known for using its natural ingredient from olive, the products from this line are also parabens and phenoxyethanol free and are not not tested on animals.

Very Moisturizing
I seldom use hand creams because I find that I tend to make everything I touch oily no matter how long I wait for the cream to sink in. Although this cream is not any different in terms of that, it is one of the more moisturizing hand creams that I have tried. The hand cream does sink in after a while and serves well especially when used in an air-conditioned environment.

Fragrance not over bearing
I absolutely love the smell of this hand cream; it’s a clean scent which reminds me of hotels and baby powder. While the smell is present, it is definitely not an over bearing one. I am sensitive to scents and fragrance but this hand cream’s fragrance is subtle and it does linger on for quite a long time in a good way.

Ingredients

Lighter texture but still moisturizing
This body lotion is my favourite product from this body range as its texture is moisturizing but light and absorbs really quick into the skin. I like that after I apply it, it doesn’t rub off on my sheets or blanket. The smell of this body lotion is almost similar to the hand cream but I prefer the scent of this over the hand cream because it smells sweeter, most probably due to the sweet almond oil present in this product.

A rather foamy shower gel
This is a clear, greenish liquid shower gel that smells just like the rest of the range in this set. I really like the fragrance even though the smell lingers till the following morning. This shower gel also foams up quite easily. But after washing it off thoroughly, I still felt like I had soap on me. It could be the moisturizing effect of the shower gel, but I was not used to the feeling. I also found my skin to be especially tight after using it, but it could just be me as I have sensitive skin and eczema on my legs. So I’ll say this is probably one to avoid for those with eczema.

Savon Vert/Green Soap and Savon Noir/Black Soap
Price: S$15 not including delivery price

Ingredients: Sodium palmate, sodium palm kemelate, aqua, squalane, olea europaea fruit oil, parfum, glycerin, palm kernel acid, olea europaea leaf extract, sodium chloride, olea europaea flower extract, CI77288, Linalool, limonene, tetrasodium EDTA, tetrasodium etidronate, alpha-isomethyl ionone, amyl cinnamal, CI 77492, coumarin, CI 77491, CI 77499, rosmarinus officinalis leaf extract, helianthus annuus seed oil.
Ingredients

Not as moisturizing as expected
Because this range is made with natural ingredient from the olive tree, I was expecting the soap to be somewhat moisturizing as well. It washes well, foams easily and the soap doesn’t seem to ‘melt’ fast in the shower as it retained its shape and embossment pretty well. Again, I really like the smell of this soap and it really reminds me of hotel stays! I also love the smell of the black soap, which came across slightly sweeter. Although I really wanted to like this soap, I find that it is too drying for my skin and it triggered a slight flare up of my eczema after using it.

Moisturizing for cracked heels
This cream is quite thick and when I applied it, I had to wear a sock for a while until it was absorbed into my foot. It definitely did the trick of moisturizing my feet but it was a little too oily for my liking. It also has a medicinal smell that is unlike that of the hand cream and body lotion. I’m not sure if the smell is normal for a foot cream as I have never used one before but I believe it came about because of the anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients. I would recommend this to people with either very dry or cracked heels.

Overview
The Une Olive en Provence Travel Set cost S$35 and you can get it for free if you purchase above S$150 of products from Poetree now. I have to say the packaging for this travel set is lovely and the sizes are really handy. I also really like the scent of this range of products as it isn’t overpowering but yet strong enough to last 24 hours. Although I do not think I will be purchasing the products as they don’t work particularly well for my eczema prone skin and I find the prices are rather steep. But I would concede that this set would make a lovely gift set for those who travel a lot for work.

Special promo for Viva Woman readers
Poetree is offering a 10% discount and a lavender heart sachet gift on all purchases! In addition, those who purchase above S$150 will receive the Une Olive en Provence travel set valued at $35. Promo code to use is viva woman and this code will expire on 30 September, 2012.

Use olive oil on my cracked heels as well (with socks too). I’m really interested in the Black Soap. Too bad the soap didn’t work for you Cassie. Not sure if it’s good for oily skin. I did find DHC Mild Soap to be a bit drying.

I am currently using Une Olive En Provence’s white soap on my face and I have to say I love it. I’ve never used a bar soap on my face before and I’ve only been using it for about three days. It does leave the skin feeling tight initially, but by the time I am through showering that feeling is gone. I have mild acne, cause unknown, that WILL NOT go away for the last year. So far, this has reduced the appearance of the acne and the scars from recent breakouts. It also makes my skin look gorgeous and feel very soft. I should note that I do moisturize after using it. After reading your review I may have to try more of their products.
