Natural look with mineral makeup

Since I have written so much about the wonders of mineral makeup, I thought I should post a picture of myself to prove the point.  This is a picture of me, before and after using mineral makeup.  Can you see the difference?

I consider this a natural look, quite light actually, and yet I think it made me glow with some radiance.  So what exactly did I used?

  • YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch under my eyes.
  • Erth Mineral Foundation 1.2 for my face.
  • Erth Mineral Moth Veil Finishing Power.
  • Fyrinnae green eyeshadow on the crease of my eyes.
  • Eyebrows drawn and a touch of lipstick with lip gloss.

Because I didn’t use concealer on other parts of my face, some of the blemishes and spots are lightly visible but no matter, because I like to look that way rather than overly flawless.  However, using mineral foundation definitely beats compact powder hands down in looking natural and not made up.

And it might interest you to know that the shot with makeup was taken after wearing it for half a day.  No touch up at all.  See the shine on my cheeks?  Okay, that’s the flashlight but it’s also because mineral makeup is highly light-reflective and hence can sometimes make one look overexposed in a shot.

  1. What about in terms of the breathablility of the skin? Is it still the same as regular makeup?

Health Nut: I would actually rate it better…mineral makeup won’t clog pores and in terms of ingredient, it is less harmful and even contains natural SPF. You can read more about the goodness of mineral makeup in my entry The Highlights On Mineral Makeup.

  2. Woah! Mineral makeup really that good ah? You really look good leh! Envy leh! :)

ashes: If you can pick the one that suits you, yes, they’re better and make one look more natural…

  3. wow. your complexion is already so clear even without the make-up!

imp: Ha…no lah…got so many spots! But thanks for saying that!

  5. it really works and i can attest to it :) i am so happy with my erth mineral foundation. it also helps keep my face matte! tks sesame!!

Tracy: Hey, you’re most welcome!

  6. Thanks for the information. I’ve been using MAC for a long time now because it offers a range of colors for my Asian skin tone which range from pale during the winter to really tan during the summer but there are times I would like to use something lighter and this fits the bill. Your picture actually convinced me more than the ones I’ve seen of the other mineral makeup ads.

    • Mineral makeup can be quite sheer so it’s good for natural look. I had to stop wearing it when my skin broke out in spots cos the coverage was not good enough.
