Colored stockings for style and fashion
Saturday, 30 August 2008What do these two pictures have in common apart that these two ladies are hot Korean celebrities Yoon Eun Hye and Kim Ah Joong and they’re modelling for Korean fashion labels? Well, did you noticed their colored stockings? Definitely up the style factor if you ask me.
I love leggings and stockings. I used to wear them when I was younger. But then, I never experimented with colors. It was always grey and black because those were deemed as safe colors. But I have to admit that colored stockings give the clothes a whole face lift, making them look more interesting. I mean, check out the clothes from YETTS that Kim Ah Joong is wearing on the right picture. How do you think she’ll look without those purple stockings? Not too fashionable I guess.
If you’re wearing something short, you can wear these colored stockings to give your legs more visual power. And it doesn’t have to blend in with your clothes. Go for some contrast for drama and attention! But make sure you’re in the right shoes and one more thing, check to make sure you do not commit the dreaded fashion faux pas of wearing stockings with runs or holes!

I live in the Middle East, and a lot of Muslim girls have incorporated this trend, for “modesty’s sake.” They’ll wear coloured stockings or printed leggings with miniskirts/shorts/dresses, and the effect is fun & stylish!
The great thing about this idea is that it gives you free rein to be creative with a look, while still maintaining sophistication. I love Kim Ah Joong’s outfit because the colour combination of purple & yellow (contrasting colours) really makes it stand out.
m.i.m: That’s interesting! The weather at middle east is hot no? One of the reasons we don’t wear stockings so frequently here is also cos of the weather!

Very cute. But I don’t think I can pull it off. I would feel cartoon-ish.
Lana: I know what you mean…comfort level is also important.

Oh I love coloured stockings in winter to break those boring shades of black and grey. Not to work though.
MisSmall: Lucky! Winter is a nice time to wear these!

I love colored stockings on other people and definitely if they are on the slim side, but for overweight it would not appear too appealing, hopefully if the colors are muted and not like neon type colors, then I would give it thumbs up. Reminds me of cyndi lauper days when everyone in school wore flashy colored stockings but me, I was still stuck in the acid washed jean attire! Icky!
cowsandlemonade: You have a good point there. Not those loud flashy colors but purple I thought is quite nice…

ooh! colored stockings are so cool. i had one patterned with roses and another with checks – only ever wore them in front of my mirror – didn’t dare to walk out in them!
and now i’m too old for these bright colors plus it would emphasize my not too skinny legs
Tracy: Aiyah…what a waste. But I agree with you about age. I won’t dare to wear them too now.

What shoes should you wear with colored stockings?
K Ekedahl: I think heels work better. Normal covered shoes would look fine but of course, some funky designs would look better because you’re drawing attention to your legs and feet. Open toes no but peeptoes will work.

I think height’s not an issue but it’s the coordination. In this case, the choice of color should not be too contrasting with the bottom so that it looks more like an extension and the leg can look longer?
