Woo hoo!  We may finally be able to get our hands on cosmetic products that are 100 per cent natural in the near future as I learnt today that more companies are working to develop effective natural alternatives to synthetic preservatives to extend shelf-life of their products.

Currently, manufacturers of natural cosmetics are forced to use weak forms of synthetic preservatives such as benzoic and benzyl alcohol in their formulations.  Hence, these manufacturers cannot label their products as 100 per cent natural.  But this frustration may soon be over as Cosmeticsdesign-Europe.com reports that Israeli biotech company Avisco has developed the natural preservative Aviorex while Slovenia-based Vitiva is working on Inolens 4 which contain active ingredients derived from rosemary to help protect cosmetic oils from oxidation and rancidity.

I’m really particular about hair care, but I find it difficult to share these hair care tips since different women have different hair textures.  Mine is fine and thin.  So for this reason, I’ve always kept my hair short, and I don’t perm my hair.   A few things that I’ve learnt over the years to create a fuller head of hair with more volume are:

- no conditioner as that will make my hair heavy and limp.

I was happy to find Trilogy Botanical Skincare range on the retail shelves in Singapore.  I’ve read so much about Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil and was so pleased to find that it’s now available at Watson’s in Ngee Ann City.  It’s costlier than the Renew 100% Organic Rose Hip Oil that I’m currently using but it’s been rated one of the best, so I didn’t mind paying S$30 to try it.

Earlier in the month I featured the 2008 fashion trends and I mentioned flower power as one of them.  I was specifically referring to apparel in that entry but there’s also a fun dimension to add to this trend through accessories such as shoes, especially if you do not want an overdose of floral prints on your body.  Depending on your personal preference, you can pick footwear with a little flower detail or one with more floral patterns or prints.
