Benefit Cosmetics The Gloss

I love The Gloss Rave Reviews from Benefit Cosmetics!  It’s got to be the bestest gloss that I’ve used so far, and in fact, I like it even better than my current lipsticks.  I’m not someone who heart lip gloss so this is really big deal.  And you may also like to know that this one has got a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from the ladies at Makeupalley, so I definitely can’t be wrong about it.

The color is just right, the smell is just fine and very important for me, it gives some shine without being sticky at all!  Plus it’s good enough to be worn solo.

The Gloss from Benefit Cosmetics is available in eight shades but Rave Reviews seems to be the best.  At US$14 online or S$30 at Tangs counter, this one is worth buying over and over again.

Get slender hips with luscious lips

Tuesday, 15 January 2008

Too Faced FUZE Slenderize Guilt Free Lip GlossHave you seen this? The new Too Faced FUZE Slenderize Guilt Free Lip Gloss?  Apparently a slimming lip gloss inspired by Fuze energy drinks that energizes and slenderizes.

Apart from delicious fruit flavors, the lip gloss contains appetite curbing energy boasting ingredients Super Citrimax, a hydroxycitric acid extract, which is one of the most widely used diet ingredients and is thought to inhibit fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis.

Too Faced FUZE Slenderize Guilt Free Lip Gloss comes in three mouth watering shades: Blueberry Raspberry, Strawberry Melon, and Dragon Fruit Lime.  And according to the company, applying the Super Citrimax-containing lip gloss will help to suppress the appetite providing “a pretty plump pout with an added bonus of healthy, energy boosting, appetite curbing ingredients that taste just like its Fuze Slenderize drink counterparts.”

I found the product at US$18.50 from Amazon and wonder how many women are going to fall for this.  I’m not certain it would work but I’m definitely not keen on any appetite curbing ingredients that goes into my mouth.  Plus since when has applying lip gloss been a guilt?  But still, I like the sound of the slogan - always on the lips, never on the hips!

Will your lips feel good with Lipscription?

Benefit Cosmetics Lipscription

I was lamenting about my dry and chapped lips to my colleague today and she immediately recommended me to try Benefit Dr. Feelgood Lipscription.  Apparently the woman couldn’t wait for me to put up our online purchase and had gone to buy it off the Tangs counter at S$67.   She didn’t seem to feel the pinch even though she could have paid less at US$32 (~S$45) online, probably because she really feels good about the product.

According to her, the Benefit Dr. Feelgood Lipscription duo consist of a tube of buffing lip beads and a tube of silky lip balm.  The tube of buffing lip beads is loaded with jojoba and AHA to exfoliate dry, flaky lips with lines while the silky lip balm is packed with chamomile and vitamin E to soothe and moisturize in a feel-good way.

And I believe her when she said the product works wonder for her because she’s quite a lip balm addict and we have similar opinions about many lip balms.  However, I’m not very certain if I want to spend that much to polish my lips because there are quite a number of cheaper alternatives.  Wash cloth, toothbrush or bare fingers coupled with vaseline or an existing lip balm are some examples.  Of course, using a product like Benefit Lipscription will certainly add to that feel good factor.

But whichever method we choose, it’s important for us to take extra care of our lips since the skin there has a thinner horny layer than the rest of our face.  In addition, our lips has no sebaceous or sweat glands and hence is less able to protect itself from moisture loss and environmental stresses.  It’s therefore not enough to apply lip balm but we also have to exfoliate our lips often and moisturize with a lip balm containing SPF if we want to achieve sumptuously kissable lips at all times!

Smith’s Rosebud Salve lip balm

Wednesday, 5 December 2007

A reader by the name of Sunshine sent me an email asking me to check out Smith’s Rosebud Salve lip balm.  Well, the truth is I’ve had my eyes on this product for a long time but I haven’t got down to ordering it.  I should have, because it is available at Drugstore.com but I guess it slipped my mind during my last order.

According to Sunshine who has cracked lips sometimes, this Rosebud Salve (original formula) works like magic for her.  “Upon application, it’s glossy and really moisturizing for lips,” she said.  And she’s right that it’s highly raved by people who have used them.

A favorite of make-up artists and many women, this general purpose topical application mosturizes, relieves roughness and itching, eases skin irritation, and promotes healing.  I have seen it recommended even on the Taiwanese beauty programs and at 3.7 out of 5 from 1299 reviewers at Makeupalley, the product must be quite a performer.

Rosebud Salves can be used as an all purpose skin preparation on top of as a lip balm; and is perfect for travel as an eye make-up remover, cuticle softener, sunburn easer, dry skin healer, and frizzy fighter. The company even suggest using Rosebud Salve around the eyes and on the throat for severely parched, dry, or wrinkled skin.

Rosebud Salve is available in original, minted rose, strawberry and mentholated flavors.  Brambleberry Rose Lip Balm is a new scent available at Sephora.com which was designed to honor “Miss Vivian,” who is the President of Rosebud Perfume Co., Inc. and apparently comes with the delicious aroma of freshly baked berry pie.
