Natural Beauty Inside Out
I picked these makeup products from UNE Natural Beauty while shopping at Lovelula recently. They’re a new makeup label boasting certified green credentials and are backed by the knowledge and expertise of French cosmetics brand Bourjois. Products from UNE are made from 98 to 100 per cent natural ingredients approved by ECOCERT. Because I have no idea if the new range will work well, I only bought their foundation, concealer and lip balm.
Some of you may remembering reading this news I posted some time back on my Facebook page regarding a California mother who was injecting her 8-year-old daughter with botox in preparation for a beauty pageant. The outrageous news sparked plenty of unsavory comments about the mother, and the mildest was that she was being “dumb”. Well, it seems that the news was a hoax after the mother claimed that her scandalous tale is bogus and scripted by the newspaper. But bogus or not, it seems that she has temporarily lost custody of her daughter as the case is undergoing investigation.
I’m using quite a bit of liquid foundation these days and have been trying out a few natural brands out of curiosity. At first, I relied mostly on my fingers to apply and blend the foundation. And the reason I use my fingers is because I find it easier to blend with them. However, I also noticed that they’re not the best for my skin because with some of the foundations that are slightly creamier and drier, there is a higher tendency of asserting more pressure and hence, pulling my skin while blending the foundation.
In early May, I wrote an advertorial for Lustre Skin Pro Tablets, which is really a skin care supplement. I started taking one tablet in the night for about a week but soon changed that to one tablet in the day because I wanted to enjoy the UV protection this supplement offers. However, I didn’t really find too much changes to my skin condition and into my third week or so of taking this, I went back to taking one tablet in the night and that’s when I saw a noticeable difference.
Even though Haji Lane is in the Kampong Glam neighbourhood of Singapore, it is nothing glamorous. In fact, the shophouses along this lane are pretty old and some of the back streets can be described as grubby looking. However, the place is unique and charming in an arty sort of way.
I haven’t explored the place fully but every time I head that direction, I’ll stop to take some pictures. So these were some quick shots taken awhile back – pictures of shopfront displays of a few independent fashion boutiques I chanced upon.
