DIY Beauty: get smoother skin with Bedak Sejuk

A number of you mentioned Bedak Sejuk in my entry on skin brightening with rice powder and I was curious because I thought I have not seen them. Then Alexandra of My Organic Journey who bought them from Ipoh kindly offered to send me some. *waves* When I received them this week, I realized they look and smell familiar but I just can’t recall where or when I’ve come across them.

Color swatches for MVO sun protection products

Okay, I get quite a number of emails asking me for advice regarding the choice of tints to pick for Marie Veronique Organics Moisturizing Facescreen as the color swatches are not available on their website. I was told they will be putting up a video about that soon but meanwhile, here’s my post that you can use as a reference. And since I’ve just reviewed the Marie Veronique Organics Everyday Sheer Coverage and they do come in different tints and so I’m including them here too.

Share: does how you look affect your self-esteem?

Last week, Serene brought my attention to a demeaning advertisement aired locally that basically insulted the image of plus size women and asked if I can write a post about self-esteem in our pursuit of beauty. It’s quite a thought provoking as well as challenging topic and I’m not sure if I can tackle it well. So instead of taking on the subject myself, I thought it would make a good discussion piece today as many of us would have something to say about that.

MVO Everyday Sheer Coverage & a giveaway

This is the other product I received from Marie Veronique Organics for review and it’s their new Everyday Sheer Coverage with SPF20. The company used to offer an Anti-Aging Day Serum with SPF20 but has tweaked some of the ingredients and replaced with this new product that provides every day UVA/UVB protection with a unique combination of natural humectants, emollients and anti-oxidants.

Why do skincare products include citrus peel oils?

I have been wondering for the longest time why certain skin care lotions or even sunscreens include citrus peel essential oils because they are widely known to be photosensitizers that increase the skin’s reaction to sunlight and making our skin more likely to burn. Some common ones that I often spot are grapefruit, lemon, tangerine or sweet orange oils. Although most of these are less than 1% in the formulation, I’m still leery when I see a bunch of them clustered somewhere in the middle of the ingredient list and would steer clear of the product.
