Organic facial at Bud in Mandarin Gallery

~ When I learnt that Bud Cosmetics started offering facial services using organic products at their new store in Mandarin Gallery recently, I was eager to feature their new service. So I arranged for Hazel of Hazelnutt House to have a complimentary session and to review it for Viva Woman. Following is her account. Update: Get $20 off any facial treatment booked for the month of May; just state you’re a reader of Viva Woman when you make your appointment. ~

What’s in a good anti-wrinkle face product?

A friend who is concerned about increasing wrinkles appearing on her face asked me to suggest products she can use. She wanted to know specifically what to look out for when selecting such products. Actually, I’ve never really looked at anti-wrinkle creams specifically because many of the products in the markets today are formulated with some ingredients to arrest that problem, amongst others. I use a repair cream or an anti-aging oil so those products do help with my wrinkle issues. But anyway, I asked her to take a look at a link I posted on my Facebook page last week to Paula’s Begoun’s article on five things your anti-wrinkle cream must have.

Hand creams in aluminium or plastic tubes?

I used to hate toothpaste. More precisely, I hate squeezing my metal tube toothpaste. They are nice tubes to look at when they are brand new but once you start squeezing them, they start to collapse and get really ugly. The worst is, it’s hard to squeeze out all the toothpaste! And, the screw tops don’t make them that user friendly too. I’m so glad that the packaging of toothpaste has improved. Instead of hard metal, the tubes are made in aluminium-plastic or in plastic and don’t collapse into an ugly lump. Plus, no more screw tops! But it’s still hard to get everything out of the tube unless you cut it up – and I don’t!

10 different ways I use a facial mist spray

I have been hooked since I started using my first facial mist spray from Suisse Programme some years back. Since then, I find myself purchasing different brands of misting atomizers and using them on an almost daily basis. I started using the facial mist spray to set my makeup but later found it a great skin care aid and product mixer. Some people find that there is no difference between a toner and a facial mist and I discussed this at length in my entry on toner, toning mist or facial spray. However, even though I use a toner, these misting atomizers have become something I cannot do without on a daily basis.

Decode cosmetics manufacture date on iPhone

Have any of you come across this Cosmetics Tester By KomSoft for iPhone? I was alerted to this application by agnieszka over the weekend. Apparently, this interesting application helps you to read manufacture date of your cosmetics and it is determined on the basis of the batch/lot code. Sounds pretty cool! I wrote about the secret batch codes of beauty products back in 2007 and while there are some online tools to help us decifer the codes, their database are not up to date.
